TY Gaisce Trip 2018

Turais thar oíche go dtí an Boireann

Tá imeachtaí na hidirbhliana tar éis tosú le fuinneamh i mbliana. Ag tús na bliana, thaisteal muintir na hIdirbliana ar thuras thar oíche go dtí an Boireann chun siúlóid a dhéanamh, mar tá siad ag eagrú a gcuid imeachtaí breise chun an Bonn Gaisce Cré-Umha a fháil. Shiúil siad 25km. Bhain siad an-sult as. Maith sibh cailíní!

TY activities have started very energetically this year. At the start of the year, the TYs went on an overnight trip to the Burren to take part in a walk, as they are organising their extra activities to achieve the GAISCE Bronze Award. They walked over 25km and although tired when finished, they really enjoyed it. Well done to all who took part.

Debating Finale!

Congratulations to the second year debating Team who were in the final for the Ard Scoil Rís Debating trophy. Team Captain Órlaith Ní Uiginn won best speaker but unfortunately the motion was defeated on the day. However, we were so proud of  Órlaith, Clodagh and Danielle for doing Laurel Hill Coláiste proud!  Míle buíochas le Ms. Chapple as ucht na tacaíochta agus spreagtha ar fad!

Gradam Compánachais

Comhghairdeas le buaiteoir na bliana, Kristina Ní Bhriain, a ainmníodh don ghradam fíorspeisialta seo mar gheall ar an lámh chúnta agus ar an gcairdeas a bhronann sí ar gach éinne timpeall uirthi.  Léiríonn sí, agus léirigh óna céad lá riamh anseo linn, spiorad na scoile i measc a comhscoláirí agus pobal uile na scoile.

Tugadh aitheantas speisialta agus rinneadh bronnadh chomh maith ar bheirt scoláirí ó Bhl. 5, Beth Ní Chuileagáin Riain agus Tess Nic Lochlainn, agus ar bheirt ó Bhl. 2, Áine Ní Annáin agus Ellie Ní Chearmada, a thaispeánann an spiorad céanna i measc a gcomhscoláirí.

Maith sibh uilig!

Caife agus Ceol

Maidin den scoth anseo leis na “Laurel Hill Ladies”, mar a ghlaofar orthu as seo amach.  Buíochas mór leis na cailíní ó Bhl. 4 + 5 a bhí páirteach leis an Creative Show agus a chuir cístí is ceol den scoth ar fáil dúinn maidin Aoine seo caite.   Many thanks too to Ms. Colgan for all the work that she put into our lunchtime rehearsals, into the Creative Show itself and for giving our girls the most wonderful opportunity to forge friendships with these inspirational women, who love to sing and laugh and eat cake almost as much as the girls do!

Craobh Luimní crochta leo!

Comhghairdeas lenár bhFoireann Shóisearach A camógaíochta a bhuaigh Craobh an Chontae inné i nDún, 5-08 to 3-08.  An-chluiche a bhí ann agus críoch iontach curtha le camógaíocht na bliana. La Visite de Niort

A wonderful return visit by Lycée Jean Macé to our school occurred recently, with students – Irish and French – benefiting from the cultural exchange.  Many thanks to all our host families, who extended a traditional “Céad míle fáilte” to our visitors, to the teachers who kindly hosted French students in their classrooms.  A special word of thanks goes to In. Ní Chonchúir, In. Ní Chuilinn and In. Ní Sheaghdha who accompanied our students to France and organised the return trip.   To all those who helped in any way to make the visit a success … buíochas ó chroí!

Caid na Bealtaine

Cuireadh deireadh iontach le Peil na Bliana an tseachtain seo caite le 2 bhlitz, ceann i nDún ar an Aoine agus ceann i Mála ar an gCéadaoin roimhe.  On Friday, our girls succeeded in bringing home the trophy and although Wednesday’s team was defeated in the final, our girls showed tremendous heart and determination, with no shortage of skill.  Ba bhreá linn bhur misneach agus bhur ndúthracht!  Huge congrats to all who were involved and played their part in the school’s success and a special word of thanks to an Máistir Mac Donnchadha and In. Ní Riada for their commitment to and promotion of Gaelic culture and sport here at LHC.
