Bhain na daltaí ealaíne as Bl5 agus Bl6 an-tairbhe as an turas go Baile Átha Cliath a d’eagraigh In. Ní Dhuinín dóibh ar an 15 Deireadh Fómhair. Thóg Melanie Ní Dhomhnaill 5A1 na grianghrafanna seo sa Roinn Seandálaíochta d’Ard-Mhúsaem na hÉireann agus chruthaigh Clíodhna Ní Airtnéada 5A2 an fhís iontach léirithe sa nasc le linn an turais. Gur fada buan bhur scileanna cruthaitheacha! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZKYSFdn7OQ
Comhghairdeas ó chroí le Méabh Ní Cheallacháin 2A2 a chuaigh tríd go dtí an chéad bhabhta eile de Poetry Aloud ar an 18 Deireadh Fómhair.
The initial regional heat was held here in LHC. Eight schools took part (83 students) and 7 were chosen for the Semi-Final. We were so proud of all our students who recited their chosen works beautifully on the day. Méabh will be competing in the National Semi-Finals in the National Library in Dublin this Friday, where she will recite “All the World’s a Stage” and “Eily Kilbride”. We wish to thank Ms. Chapple and Dr. Hayes most sincerely for preparing our own students so well for the competition and for hosting so many other young performers on the day.
A group of 11 girls from bl. 3 and 5 spent a week in Bilbao last June with their teacher Ms.O Connor. They attended a Spanish language course and lived with Spanish families. They also visited many of the historic places in the city such as the Basque Museum, the Vizcaya Suspension Bridge and the Guernica Peace Museum. The highlight, though, was the Guggenheim Museum with its huge floral puppy outside. It wasn’t all museums though. We still found time for tapas and the beach! Why not join us for the Bilbao trip in June 2017?
On Tuesday 11 October, International Day of the Girl, 27 of our TY students travelled to UL with Miss Colgan to take part in workshops on the subject of gender equality, hosted by The Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. These lucky girls participated in a range of activities from discusssion forums to dance, drama, art, music and song-composition workshops – all designed to create awareness of the challenges girls face in our society and to promote empowerment of girls and the fulfilment of their human rights.
“It was a privilege to share UN International Day of the Girl with the TY students of Laurel Hill in Limerick. The girls created a 20-minute performance around issues of gender equality, and the issues facing girls across the globe. We had amazing conversations with them, from the links between Kanye West and traditional Irish song, to their own definition of the word ‘feminism’ in the world today,” explained one of the organisers, Dr Niamh NicGhabhann, course director, MA Festive Arts Programme.
Ardmholadh gan dabht! Míle buíochas ach go h-áirithe le Miss Colgan agus Kathleen Turner ón Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. CÁILÍNÍ LHC ABÚ!
Bunaíodh feachtas náisiúnta #StateoftheArt ar an 26 Deireadh Fómhair. Tá múinteoirí agus daltaí Ealaíne ar fud na tíre ag iarraidh curaclaim nua a fháil i gcomhair ealaíne na hArdteiste, i measc rudaí eile. Tá an curaclam atá ann i láthair na huaire sean-fhaiseanta agus as dáta, gan aon athrú ó 1973! Rinne an rang ealaíne, bliain 5, fís iontach chun an luach a chuirimid ar ealaín a léiriú. Chuir siad an cheist “Cad a tharlódh dá gcuirfí cosc ar ealaín?” Tá siad ag iarraidh saol gan ealaín a shamhlú – saol gruama, dorcha chun luach na healaíne a léiriú.
Muna gcuirimid luach ar ealaín ní tharlóidh na hathraithe riachtanacha.
