Seó na Scoile/"Sister Act"

"Sister Act" - Millennium Theatre, TÚS 3 - 5 December

Bhí an-seó againn arís le "Sister Act" in Amharclann na Mílaoise, TÚS ón 3ú - 5ú Nollaig seo caite. Seo an dara huair dúinn bheith ar an ardán in 2025 - éacht gan amhras, a bhuí le foireann den scoth anseo i Laurel Hill Coláiste FCJ. Faoi stiúir In. Ní Bhroin (an léiritheoir agus múinteoir ceoil na scoile), Robyn O'Brien (cóiréagrafaí), In. Nic Cumhaill (stiúrthóir na n-aisteoirí), chuir cailíní na hIdirbhliana agus na cúigiú bliana seó thar a bheith taitneamhach, thar a bheith snasta ar an stáitse. Agus a leithéid de stáitse! Bhí seit suaithinseach cruthaithe ag In. Ní Chathasaigh, ár múinteoir ealaíne, Radek Urniaz (airíoch na scoile) agus scoláirí ealaíne na hIdirbhliana. Ar aon dul le gach aon ní eile a tharlaíonn anseo ar scoil, bhí foireann níba mhó taobh thiar den stáitse - In. Ní Dhomhnaigh mar bhainisteoir stáitse, In. Ní Ghealagáin agus scoláirí sinsearacha na scoile ar chúl an ardáin agus In. Nic Conmara i mbun fuaime agus soilsithe le Star Systems - gan trácht ar smideadh agus cóiriú gruaige. Bhí scoláirí agus iarscoláirí freisin i mbun na ceolfhoirne agus chuir siad ar fad go mór leis an ócáid! Níl aon dabht faoi, mar a deir an príomhcharachtar sa cheoldráma, is cuid de "one terrific sister act" gach uile duine a chabhraigh agus a thug tacaíocht le seó den chéad scoth!

The little school with the big heart was on stage again - for the second time in 2025 - thanks to the hard work and dedication of staff and students. Under the baton (literally) of Producer, In. Ní Bhroin, our music teacher, Choreographer Robyn O'Brien and Director, In. Nic Cumhaill, our TY and 5th year students brought a stunning performance of "Sister Act" to the stage of TÚS' Millennium Theatre from 3rd - 5th December. And what a stage! The set, created by In. Ní Chathasaigh, our art teacher, assisted by Radek Urniaz, our incredibly talented caretaker, and TY art students was breathtakingly beautiful and transported us into the world of Deloris Van Cartier, Philadelphia 1977 and Queen of Angels' Convent. As with so much of what happens in Laurel Hill Coláiste FCJ, team-spirit was in evidence not just on stage but backstage too - with In. Ní Dhomhnaigh directing our backstage crew of In. Ní Ghealagáin and a team of willing senior students, In. Nic Conmara assisting with lighting and sound - not to mention lending an expert hand with make-up and hair - and many more staff and student helpers, who loaded props in and out of the theatre and stepped in to supervise and organise, as required! And then there were our musician students - past and present - who played with the show orchestra, adding immeasurably to the star quality of the show! Absolutely no doubt about it, in the words of Deloris Van Cartier, everyone who helped and supported in delivering this stellar performance is part of Laurel Hill Coláiste's "terrific sister act". Oh, and a massive "Thank you" to Whoopi Goldberg - REALLY! - for her kind words of encouragement and gorgeously personal message to the girls and to In. Ní Bhroin. Ba mhór linn é!
